Logistics (Road & Water)
Tyne and Wear Marine Ltd is ideally place to provide service relating to the wind energy sector due to its river frontage and water access located on the river Tyne.
Having anticipated the need that would be required by our clients operating in the offshore industry, we have been increasingly involved in projects utilising the range of equipment that we have designed, and have available.
Over recent months there has been an increase in offshore support services resulting in our extending our range of equipment to serve the needs and we have recently transported our equipment to the River Tees and to Blyth,
- Road Transportable Modular Pontoon Pushing Tug System (MPPTS) consisting of 8 pontoons with a unique dovetail locking system, and twin engines of 180hp, enables moving large pieces of equipment with more ease and cost effectiveness
- Stand- off pontoons
Transporting Trencher Value £4.3 Million
After many hours of planning, 10 minutes was all it took to carry out the operation of transporting a Trencher valued at £4.3 million from the North side to the South side of River Tyne using our Modular Powered Pontoon System (MPPTS)
Using the system proved to be a cost effective way by avoiding the logistics of trying to move the 55 tonne trencher by dismantling it, and transporting by road through the City of Newcastle.
Transporting Liebherr Cranes
The 96 tonne cranes were individually transported from the Liebherr factory in Sunderland, Deptford area to Corporation Quay to continue their journey by ship to Hartlepool for delivery to a gas platform for the Cygnus Project.
The limited water depth of the River Wear makes the shallow draft of TWM’s modular pontoon system ideal for projects of this nature.
Transporting Cable Spooling Manipulators
The 43 tonne Cable Spooling Manipulators were transported from their site of being built at A & P Tyne in Hebburn to Shepherds Offshore Technology Park for Duco in Wallsend.
